Up for auction on CBC is the 1984 BMW E30 325i with Alpine White on two tone (Blue & Grey) fabric interior. The BMW E30s are the second generation of 3 Series, which was produced starting from model year 1982 till 1994 and they were the replacement of E21 3 Series. They are also known to be the first ones produced in 4-door sedan and wagon/estate body styles. The new 3 series came with major differences such as the interior and a revised suspension, especially reducing the oversteer that was in E21s.
Being bought from a dealer in Japan and imported in May of 2021, this car has not been registered in the UAE. The Alpine White paint is said to be original to the car and showing surface rust in a few places, in the pictures the rear right side door step has a very small whole which would need fixing. Both the chrome and plastic shows signs of fading in certain areas due to age. The photos from different angles as well as from far and close up have been shared in the gallery. Under the bonnet, it is powered by a 2.7-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed automatic transmission sending power to rear wheels (RWD). As per the seller, the car comes with matching numbers engine and transmission.
The two tone fabric interior shows age and usage appropriate wear and tear; mostly witnessed in the driver seat side. The matching door covers; combination of leather and fabric seem to be in better condition compared to seat upholstery. The black vinyl dashboard comes with cracks which have been shown on the gallery, as per the seller these are formed due to sunlight exposure of the car in previous ownership.
This BMW 325i comes with original amenities including power windows and mirrors along with an onboard computer, air conditioning, and a three-spoke steering wheel, original AM/FM Stereo. It is said by the seller that all the equipment is stock and in working condition. The current odometer is showing 78,116km which is mainly from the previous usage. The 14inch wheels with BMW center caps (logos are faded) are wrapped in Yokohama tires which need to be replaced.
This BMW comes with the 325 (e) engine which was released with a lower revving, more fuel efficient engine. The “e” which stands in short for “eta”, which is used to represent the thermal efficiency of the car`s engine. To maximize low-rev torque, the 325e engine was the largest available in an E30. The 325e engine had a longer stroke than the 325i version, with a more restrictive head, four cam bearings instead of seven, and single valve springs. This BMW E30 series from the model year 1984 is being offered by its seller “As is” and waiting for its new owner to revive it and take it out the roads of the UAE. This BMW 325i can be described as an example of an usable modern classic as-is, but needs some attention nevertheless.
