Up for auction is this 1989 Citroen 2CV6 Charleston with Maroon and Black with Black soft top matched with light Grey and Black two tone interior. The Citroën 2CV is an air-cooled front-engine, front-wheel-drive, economy family car, manufactured by Citroën for model years 1948–1990. This model ranks alongside the Volkswagen Beetle, Mini, and Land Rover as one of the classic mass-produced cars of the post-war era. During the years of production Citroen rolled out 'special editions'. Rolled out of the production line for the very first time in October of 1980 as a one-season-only planned model, the Charleston was so well received that it was incorporated into the regular range almost immediately. A change of carburetor boosted engine output to 29bhp, giving the Charleston a top speed of around 115km/h while other improvements included inboard front disc brakes and a new rear-view mirror. A Charleston was the last car off the 2CV production line when it ceased to exist in July 1990.
The exterior paint which is complemented with silver stripes is in very good condition and the seller confirms that this is original paint. The car comes with body-color matching 15″ steel wheels wrapped around era-correct tires, split-folding front side windows, black roll-back soft top cover, silver bumpers, front mud flaps and round headlights.
Inside the cabin this Citroen comes with a diamond-quilted Grey and Black two tone flannel seats which are original and they are in very good condition considering the age of the car. The seats are contrasted by black door panels and matching color dashboard, the car comes with the original single-spoke steering wheel and factory instrumentation, which consists of a 120 km/h Veglia speedometer with nested fuel level and charging gauges. The odometer shows 60,594 kilometers which is stated to be accurate by the seller.
Under the hood, this 2CV6 Charleston is powered by an air-cooled 602cc flat-twin paired to a 4-speed manual transaxle. Historically, the Charleston models received a change of carburetor which boosted engine output to 29bhp, while other improvements included inboard front disc brakes and a new rear-view mirror. The suspension uses shared volute springs mounted on either side of the chassis, which are connected to the leading and trailing arms with pushrods.
Manufactured between 1948 and 1990, more than 3.8 million 2CVs were produced, making it the world's first front-wheel drive car to become a million seller. This car is now looking for a new owner who is ready to take her out to roads once again with the soft top rolled back, roaming freely as it was meant to be. The last note from the seller is the car has been parked indoors for 7+ years it certainly will need some work before driving it.
