Up for auction is the 1993 Jaguar XJS with Flamenco Mica (CFH) on Tan leather. These cars were manufactured from 1975 till 1996 and considered as “Luxury Grand Tourer” by Jaguar. This one is a 2-door coupe. Under the hood this car is powered by a 6-litre naturally aspirated V12 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. This engine was rated at 304 horsepower when new. This model also falls under the production of Ford where numerous modifications were introduced starting from 1991 model year till the production ended in 1996.
In the model year 1993, one of the biggest changes was the enlargement of the engine to 6-liter and adding the fourth gear overdrive with the newly installed GM 4L80E transmission. Historically, the powerful V12 engine of Jaguar XJS is described to be reliable and certainly a smooth driving experience; after all it was designed initially to power up a Jaguar for the Le Mans racing. From the exterior point of view, the car received more aerodynamic front and rear bumpers.
The car has been with him for more than 5 years and bought from a dealer. The car is an import from Japan therefore the current owner does not have previous information on the car. He estimates that he drove it around 15,000km and he used it for leisurely purposes; driving it twice or three times a month. The last time he drove the car was more than 3 months ago. It is mentioned that this car has always been parked indoors under his ownership. No history of accident also for the time he owned the car. Various touch ups for paint have been done on the car under the current ownership; such as the right fender, left hand side quarter panel and cowl panel. Minor dent and blemishes are visible on the front left side of the roof (Photo is shared in the gallery)
On the exterior the features include fog lights, a front spoiler, a power antenna, and dual exhaust outlets. This XJS is very much notable for its prominent rear flying buttresses, slightly minimized by the new side window trim which was given after the model year of 1991. The Silver-finished 15″ basket-weave wheels are original with Jaguar head caps and mounted with Cooper Cobra 2014 tires which need to be replaced in order to pass the RTA test.
This Jaguar XJS comes with Tan leather upholstered seats, with gray carpets, and burl wood complimenting the dashboard, doors, and center console. While the front seats show minimal age appropriate wear there is also a tear on the driver side seat which the close up picture is shared in the gallery section. The rear seats are in good condition considering the age of the car. Shared also in the gallery, the mid console wood veneer has cracks on it. The car is equipped with cruise control and power-adjustable seats with lumbar support with the driver’s position memory, all are in working order. A/C is original to the car and it is also operational but as it was not driven during the hot summer months the seller doesn`t know condition of the performance. The car comes with an aftermarket Sony stereo with trunk mounted CD changer unit.
The burl wood trimmed cluster gauge is equipped with a 260km/h speedometer along with a 7k tachometer. The reading on the odometer shows 48,440km, as per the seller this is believed to be accurate. Further gauges include the battery power indicator, the fuel and oil indicator. The seller mentions that due to water leakage the car at times rises in the engine temperature and this requires it to be checked to understand what may be the cause. He will be fixing this issue before handing over to the new owner.
The seller states that there is no rust on the car and just like any car with this age requires some attention but overall it is in solid driving condition. He is considering selling this Jaguar only to make way for some other cars as the driving season is closing in and would like to have a change. For the right owner this British classic is very much a joy to drive and would get the right kind of attention on Dubai roads.
