Up for auction this 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SEL painted in Midnight Blue (official MB color code 904U) over Blue Velour (972) with Black leather seats. The Midnight Blue exterior is complemented with contrasting black lower-body cladding. The Mercedes-Benz W126 is the company's internal designation for its second generation S-Class, manufactured in sedan/saloon (1979–1991) and coupé (1981–1990) models, succeeding the company's W116 range. The power is provided by a 5.5-liter M117 V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission, sending power to rear wheels (RWD).
This Mercedes-Benz is considered to be one of the “Second Series” due to a revision received starting from model year 1986; with new six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines and the V8 petrol engines enlarged to 4.2 and 5.5 litres. Furthermore, minor visual changes were included such as installation of smoother bumpers and side claddings, revised alloy wheels, and deeper front bumper with integrated air dam.
The cabin features heated and power-adjustable front and rear seats trimmed in Black leather upholstery, while burl wood trim accents the dashboard, door panels, and center console. Age appropriate wear is visible on the leather seats and a crack on the wood trim can be witnessed in the center console. Features include a power sunroof, automatic climate control, original Becker Grand Prix stereo, and rear footrests. As per the seller, minor fixes required for the broken rear left power window button and the rear map lights don't work. Sunroof switch has been ordered for replacement, same for the driver side seat adjustment button.
The black leather upholstered steering wheel accents the display cluster which comes with 260km/h speedometer, 7,000rpm tachometer which stated by the seller it currently is not operational, engine temperature, oil pressure and analog clock. The odometer on this car shows 117,000kms and since it has been bought from an auction in Japan the current owner cannot verify if this would be the true mileage on this Mercedes-Benz.
The seller states that during his ownership since June 2021, this car has been parked indoors at all times and was driven almost once a month to keep the engine running. He mentions that light clunking noise from the front right side can be heard while driving which is possibly coming from the CV joints and indicates that it would require minor job to be performed. The winning bidder will be granted a brand new battery and new summer tires given to them along with the car.
